A sensory path is a set of guided movements for children to follow, indicated by markings on the floor or walls. As they navigate the path and perform the movements, they release excess energy while building gross motor skills. The activities are thoughtfully designed to engage different parts of the body and brain, featuring actions like frog hops, spins, and wall pushes.
Reduces Anxiety, Stress, and Excess Energy
Long periods in the classroom can increase anxiety and stress in children, often leading to reduced concentration, disruptive behavior, and occasional outbursts. Taking a short break on a sensory path helps release excess energy and provides a calming effect for anxious children. The variety of activities and physical movements on the sensory path allow children to relax and return to the classroom more focused and ready to learn.
A sensory path is designed to help children use their bodies and surroundings to self-regulate and find calm. By engaging their muscles, focusing on their breathing, and practicing spatial awareness, they navigate the path and leave feeling reset and refreshed.
